Kitchen Sink Sandwiches

We love sandwiches, and the way Judy makes them they are dinner by themselves. They are also so messy they are often best eaten over the sink although I usually eat them hunched over a plate – and still mess up the shirt I am wearing.

Our Tomato Sandwich

Toasted seeded bread (we love Seeduction from Whole Foods, why anyone would use store-bought white bread eludes us, but nostalgia is what it is, I guess).

Thick slices of best tomatoes we can find. When we have been to the Farmers’ Market we love Cherokee Purple.

Vegenaise on both pieces of toasted bread.

Bread and Butter sliced pickles

Artichoke bruschetta

Bacon strips, very crispy (we actually use Boars Head microwavable)

Arugula

Chicken Sandwich

Toasted seeded bread

Thick slices of best tomatoes we can find.

Chicken scallopini cut into thin slices

Vegenaise on both pieces of toasted bread.

Bread and Butter sliced pickles

Artichoke bruschetta

Panini

Slices of a good seeded, whole-grain bread

Garlic carrots or grilled ones (see other recipes)

Sliced chicken or other meat (turkey from deli is good)

Good meltable cheese, cheddar is always good

Grilled sweet peppers (red, yellow, or orange)

Olive oil on grill pan or on bread
